Comr. Ope-Igbede Tobiloba Richman is the current President of the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students’ Association (NUESA), OAUSTECH Chapter, serving under the R.I.C.H. Mandate for the 2025/26 session. His presidential vision as being centred on excellence and innovation.

Leadership and responsibilities

As NUESA President, Richman heads the executive council responsible for representing engineering students across the various engineering departments in OAUSTECH. His responsibilities include providing direction for the association, coordinating the executive team, representing NUESA before university authorities and other stakeholders, and ensuring that issues affecting engineering students receive attention.

He works alongside the other principal officers, including Abakam Blessing Paul, Vice President; Aderibigbe Busayo Kunle, General Secretary amongst others.

The R.I.C.H. Mandate

His administration is officially identified as the R.I.C.H. Mandate. The  administration Centers on vision of excellence and innovation, suggesting an emphasis on improving the academic, professional and developmental experience of engineering students.

The administration has also undertaken practical projects. Gallery documents shows a goal-post renovation project and an outdoor double-seater installation project under the R.I.C.H. Mandate 2025/26.

Academic and student development

Beyond general administration, the NUESA leadership is involved in activities intended to support students academically and professionally. For example, the NUESA gallery records a Freshers’ First Semester Examination Tutorial organised by the NUESA Vice President, showing that the administration’s activities extend to academic support and not only social or political programmes.

The association also provides a platform for the different engineering departmental associations to work together. The current NUESA executive page lists departmental leadership from associations including NICESA, NIEEES, NIMECHE-SF and others, placing the NUESA President at the head of the wider engineering-student structure.

Engagement with the School of Engineering

The R.I.C.H. administration has also engaged university stakeholders. NUESA’s gallery records courtesy visits to the Dean of the School of Engineering, the School Officer, Students Affairs, the Chief Security Officer, and other university officials.

This is significant because the NUESA President’s role is not simply to organise student activities; it also involves maintaining communication between engineering students, departmental associations and university management.
